This is usually the skill which takes an amateur graphic designer and takes them to the next level of professional designer.

The most common mistake is not thinking about the colours when designing your piece. As most of you will be aware, by default Photoshop will want you to create graphics using RGB (Red, Green and Blue) at a resolution of 72dpi. This isn’t a problem if you are designing for the web, but nearly all printing houses will have detailed specifications if they are to take your design and work with it.

The Colour mode can be changed by going to image > mode to get a range of options that a printing company may request. The next step is going to image > image size, and then image resolution, changing the value from 72 to the desired rate. Remember that increasing this on an existing piece of artwork may diminish quality.
